Wroclaw on the Oder River, The most international city in Poland

Wroclaw, pronounced wrotswaf, is probably the most international city in Poland, a large student population and a go-ahead local government have made this city one of the nicest places in Poland to spend time. The city is also known as Breslau, the old German name, in fact it is still called Breslau in Germany so be carefull as all german airports and stations only use the later name..

The city has also attracted a considerable amount of outside investment leading to the lowest unemployment rate in Poland.

The city square has been completely refurbished over the last 10 years and now has an impressive array of coffee shops, restaurants and bars. It has also at various times be part of Poland, Bohemia, Austria, Prussia and Germany, who returned it to Poland as part of the Potstam Agreement.

There are several large shopping malls just out of the centre and the Berlinny shopping park about 5 Kilometres outside the city, with the usual European Hypermarkets.

In germany the city is still called Breslau, the name during German occupation, in fact the Airports still list the destination in the old German name.

The Main square, (Grunwald Square), is a nice place to watch the world go by, the student population add to the character and ambience of the city.
